Sydney skincare: 5 habits that suit our climate
Coastal sun + humidity + air-conditioned offices is a tough combo for skin. Five small habits that protect it all year round.
Sydney skin lives in a unique climate: high UV, high humidity outside, and dry recirculated air indoors. The result is skin that often feels dehydrated yet shiny, irritated yet broken out.
Five small habits — recommended by our facial therapists — that keep skin balanced all year.
1. Double cleanse at night
One cleanse isn't enough to remove SPF and city pollution. Start with a balm or oil cleanser, follow with a gentle milk cleanser. Clean skin is the foundation of every step that follows.
2. SPF, then SPF again
SPF 30+ every morning, even cloudy days. More importantly — reapply every 3–4 hours if you're outside. This is the single habit that will save you a decade of skincare regret.
3. Hydrate, even if your skin is oily
Oily skin isn't hydrated skin. Dehydrated skin actually produces more oil to compensate, which leads to breakouts. A Hyaluronic Acid serum under a gel-textured moisturiser is ideal for Sydney humidity.
4. Enzyme exfoliation, not scrubs
Your skin is already under environmental stress — don't add abrasive scrub. Enzyme (papain, bromelain) or PHA twice a week is enough to keep skin smooth without compromising the barrier.
5. Book a facial every 4–6 weeks
Home skincare maintains. Professional facials reset. Every 4–6 weeks, a proper deep cleanse, extraction (when needed) and mask treatment makes a real difference long-term.
Great skin isn't about one miracle product — it's the sum of small habits done consistently.
